Forest Service Workshops Feature Mapping Exercise To Get Public Input
Custer, SD – The month of November is a busy time for the Black Hills National Forest as Travel Management planners prepare for a series of public workshops in South Dakota and Wyoming.
The idea for the workshops are to seek public input about the future of motorized travel and to help shape the future of off-highway vehicle (OHV) use in the Black Hills National Forest.
Anyone interested in or having concerns about motorized use and how travel is managed, including non-motorized users of the Forest, are encouraged to participate in the upcoming Forest workshops. Space is limited to 100 participants in each of 4 sessions.

The people attending the workshop will participate in a mapping exercise. Groups will use the current Forest Travel Information Map to draw their own ideas for single or two track vehicle routes, hiking trails, and equestrian areas, to name a few.

Meetings will be held at the following locations and times:

People are encouraged to bring information about routes, areas, destinations, trail heads, maps or any other information that may help the Forest Service complete travel planning.

Information about the upcoming public workshops may be obtained by contacting Tom Williams, Travel Management Planner at (605) 673-9200, or visit the Forest website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/blackhills/recreation/travel_management/ohv.shtml.
